You must learn a special skill to tame Gargons. It is taught by a Gargon Training Manual, a guaranteed drop from Huntmaster Petrus, a rare NPC that can appear in the Witherfall Ruin area of south-east Revendreth. It appears this manual can only be read at level 60.

This version of the Loyal Granitefur only appears during the quest, Hunting Huln, which is part of the Patch 9.1 campaign story. It is found on the eastern side of Dominance Keep and is easier to tame while you're not disguised, otherwise it may dispel your disguise and teleport you back to the start before you can finish the tame. The stone variant appears to be much rarer than the other two colours.
