NOTE: This information comes from the Cataclysm beta test and is subject to change.

Pets in New Cataclysm Zones

Every zone in Azeroth will be affected by the coming Cataclysm, but some brand-new zones are being added as well.

Here's a run-down of the pets we know about in those new Cataclysm zones.

Kezan & Lost Isles: Goblin Starting Zones

Goblin characters start in the city of Kezan and quickly move to the Lost Isles.

Unfortunately only Goblins will ever see these zones, and even goblins cannot return to them after they have left.

Kezan

Goblins start in the city of Kezan but leave around level 5. Most experience here comes from quests and so grinding to tame one of these pets is not terribly feasible.

Lost Isles

Goblins move to the Lost Isles zone around level 5 and leave around level 12. This zone has two islands and many different phases.

Name Level Notes Keensnout Potbelly 3 Kezan. With a Villa Mook in Gallywix's Villa. Phases out before they can be tamed. Back to Top

Name Level Notes Jungle Cat 7-8 Found on the first island. Doesn't seem to phase out. Jungle Panther 10-11 Found on both islands. Doesn't seem to phase out. Back to Top

Name Level Notes Bomb-Throwing Monkey 5-6 On the beach of the first island. Smart Mining Monkey 6-7 Retains pick as a 'weapon' (graphics only). Phases out around level 7. Back to Top

Name Level Notes Teraptor Matriarch Boss On first island. Does not seem to phase out. Back to Top

Name Level Notes Teraptor Hatchling 5-6 On first island. Does not seem to phase out. Back to Top

Name Level Notes Spiny Raptor 7-8 Phases out after volcano? Back to Top

Name Level Notes Child of Volcanoth 8-9 In the pit of the volcano. Does not retain fire breath. Phases out after Volcanoth. Volcanoth Boss Boss at the bottom of the volcano. Back to Top

Name Level Notes Ancient Island Turtle 6-7 On the beach of the first island. Sometimes followed by adorable baby turtles (critters). Back to Top

Gilneas: Worgen Starting

Worgen characters start in Gilneas City within the zone of Gilneas. The new character experience takes them outside the city to a variety of locations in many different phases.

Like Goblins, only Worgen will ever see this version of Gilneas and they cannot return after they have left.

Mount Hyjal: Levels 80-82

Mount Hyjal is one of two 'entry' zones for level 80 characters in Cataclysm. It is located in the center of Winterspring, Felwood, and Ashenvale.

Vashj'ir: Levels 80-82

Vashj'ir is second of two 'entry' zones for level 80 characters in Cataclysm, and the first underwater zone in WoW. Although Vashj'ir is one zone, it covers three distinct maps.

Vashj'ir is located off the west coast of the Eastern Kingdoms, but characters must complete a level 80 quest to access the zone the first time.

Kelp Forest

Characters enter Vashj'ir through the Kelp Forest, a smallish map filled with towering kelp.

The center of Vashj'ir holds the Shimmering Expanse.

Deepholm is the elemental plane of earth in WoW, and as such most of its inhabitants are elementals and not beasts.
